It was exactly 20 years ago that Sachin Tendulkar set sail across the border to take on the most lethal fast bowling attack in the world. By the end of that tour, Imran Khan, Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis were spellbound by the batting prowess the young 15-year-old in his debut series.
Two decades later, the master batsman's reign continues. There is no batting record that's escaped his sights; no bowling attack that wasn't decimated by his bat.
As the master blaster revealed on Friday, "The day I wore my India cap it was a dream come true. Twenty years has been a long time and there have been many special moments, but I would definitely say that walking out with the first eleven in Pakistan was the greatest feeling."
Tendulkar has set new benchmarks and it is difficult to see anyone get close to them.
Just for the record, he is the highest scorer in both formats of the game along with the highest century maker.
